Most refugees arrive to the United States with next to nothing, but individuals or faith communities can help them rebuild their lives by donating household and personal items.

SOAR welcomes donations of the following household items:

• New linens: towels, wash cloths, sheets, warm blankets, pillows
• Household items: lamps, dishes, pots, pans, silverware (new or gently used)
• New clothing items
• Toiletries: soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
• Disposable diapers

To donate household items, contact Jenna Eliel at jeliel@emoregon.org or (503) 284-3002, ext. 114. Please provide the following information:

    • Give a time frame to pick up the furniture. Our team needs at least 72 hours to arrange for pick up.
    • Attach image(s) of each item, so we can show them to our refugees families and get their approval before committing. For images, please get several angles, if possible, to show if there are any scuffs, stains, wear and tear.
    • Provide a description of each item including size dimensions to help us judge if we can fit it in the van or our storage.
    • Let us know if an item comes from a home with pets (some of our families cannot accept furniture due to pet allergies).

Refugee Care Collective Restart Kits

Build a Restart Kit:

    • View the Restart Kit List and choose the one you want to build.
    • Gather new items and place them in a plastic tub or box that can close. Please do not tape the container.
    • Consider including a handwritten and unsealed welcome note with your kit, after reviewing our Welcome Note Tips.
    • Label the top of the container with the restart kit name.
    • Drop the kit off.

Restart Kits include (estimated costs in parenthesis): Personal Care ($30), Welcome ($60), Kitchen ($105-$125), Baby ($35), Bedding ($70), Bathroom ($65) and Cleaning ($50).
